Owen’s flight touched down in LA nearly six hours ago, and here he was getting ready for Dee’s surprise visit. He wanted to make sure everything was positively perfect, down to the candle that was centred on the table.
The Canadian purposely told her that he wasn’t moving until Friday which meant that his arrival was as unexpected as Dee’s father coming to see her. Not that he was there, or even knew of her relocation. Wincing slightly, he shook the harsh thought out of his head. She was going to be alone for her birthday, having moved to Los Angelus only days ago, she had the members of I Love Frankie to keep her warm heart company.
It was thanks to them that Owen was even there, standing in Dee’s condo kitchen. They managed to steal her key, and gave it to him as a welcome gift, he guessed. “She better be so surprised that she doesn’t stop talking about this for weeks.” Another band member cut her friend off, “Or else, O, you‘re getting a personal flight back to New York, and no, man, it’s not going to be first class.” They threatened him with a teasing warm smile, but something told him that they were dead serious.
Brushing his hands together in a job well done, he glanced at the presents that were wrapped on the table. A
guitar that her band mates helped him pick out, and a pair of
Marc Jacobs glasses.
He also had dinner on the table. A romantic dinner that contained of Lobster. Yes, it was obvious that Owen was trying his absolute hardest to make Dee’s surprise amazing and flawless. Everyone knew that Owen was nothing close to a chef, so Vanessa had made the dinner for the couple. Still exhausted and groggy from the plane flight, Owen was running on adrenaline. And maybe on love too.
Making sure that all the lights were on, Owen didn’t want to scare Dee into a dreaded fight or flight mode by his unexpected visit. Hearing the deadbolt unlock Owen exhaled deeply.
“Hello again, stranger. “His greeting was in company with a large grin. God, he missed Dee Sanders. "Happy birthday."
